Insert pun here...

Thought about trying to come up with some catchy title based on the word "dyeing," since those are the pictures I'm posting here, but decided it wasn't worth the effort. :-)

I did finish my sock wool dyeing experiment last weekend, and I think it turned out OK. I will be casting on to knit the actual socks this weekend, so we'll see what it looks like when I'm done knitting. I took pictures at EVERY step in the process, but I'll just share a few here:
1) Winding the yarn into long hanks--yup, that's a chair. Very handy for this when you're home alone!

2) The cups of Kool-aid. I mean....dye!

3) Wet, colourful yarn drying

4) All dry and not-very-neatly wound into skeins.

I will post again when I have a picture of the socks so you can see how the colours look in the fabric. I'm quite excited to start!

Oh, and a note to my Southern friends who are sick of being picked on for taking a snow day every time a flake falls....up here kids get fog days. Yes, that's right--if the fog gets too thick, they cancel the buses. For the elementary schools, enough kids walk, so they still have classes, but the high schools end up cancelled completely. It's happened twice already this school year. So now you can all make fun of us! :-)

Oh, and I'm still interviewing for lots of jobs (so many that I haven't been able to work much this week), so hopefully some interesting news will be coming soon--but it might take a few more weeks before I know for sure!
