Oh so cold...

I think there are similar blog entries across most of North America today, so I guess I'm just not that creative. But it's hard to get your brain to function properly when the temperature drops below -20 (that's -4 for the Fahrenheit folks out there)! :-) It's also really hard to get motivated to do anything but sit around, either.

This morning I arrived at school to find that the heat in the science building, where I teach, was not working. It was very cold, but we were able to take it for maybe 15 minutes before we were relocated to the main building. I went back later in the day and ice was forming inside all the windows. They're working on it, but it didn't seem to be going well....we'll see what I'm in for tomorrow. Luckily the drama room is available in the mornings, and it's quite nice and cozy. It will not be the ideal setting for my science test tomorrow morning (just one table and not enough chairs for everyone. Today they were studying/playing Jeopardy to review, so they were content to lounge around the room!), but we'll work it out somehow...

On the knitting front, I did finish the scarf for Sunday--it probably should have been a wee bit longer, but it was an acceptable length, I think! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of it in its completed state before it was gifted. Maybe next time we visit I can talk BIL and nephew into posing for a photo in their matching scarves....

So that leaves me with one project OTN, Stephen's socks. Hopefully I can get them finished so he can wear them in this brutal cold weather. And I have a big package coming from KnitPicks soon (OK, most of it is not for me but for my lovely British friends from the AY forum), which includes the yarn I need to start my Ivy. This will be by far my most ambitious project yet, so I'm already starting to psych myself up for it. I'm very excited about the idea of having a "proper" handknit garment. Socks were a small miracle to me, the idea that I can do an entire cardigan is really amazing.

Now I need to go take care of my house--part of the benefit of working part time is supposed to be that I keep a tidy house and make yummy dinners. I'm usually just 1 for 2, but I'm going to try to be better this week. However, I do want to blog sometime soon on the unique qualities of my current school, so please remind me to do so!

So, as a 'non-blogger' I have figured out the BIL thing...but what the "F" is OTN?

Yay Paula, that's right! :-) I think most of the (few) other people reading are knitters, so I've fallen into using knitter shorthand (yes, you can mock me now). Sorry about that!

I had no idea you knitted! I just picked it up - I'm working on mastering purling as well as circular needles and changing colors. Needless to say, it's going slowly. I love what you've done so far - totally inspirational! My favorite book lately has been stitch n' bitch - have you read it? it rocks! Talk to you soon!

Hi Lindsey, just been reading your blog, really nice and was wondering (know I have a bit of a cheek!!! smiles nicely).....but I was wondering if you knew of any Canadian on line stores that sell the Lendrum spinning wheel (as it is manufactured there)...there is only one shop over here...so it would be very interesting if I could compare prices. Many thanks.. Teresa.
