Playing Catch-Up

So I survived the Week of the Visitor last week, and had quite a bit of fun. From Saturday to Thursday, we had guests every night but one--my MIL, my mom & aunt, and a high school friend of mine. (some guests stayed at a nearby hotel & some stayed here, as we only have 1 little guest bed and one night there were 3 people around at once!) The family visitors and I had a great time catching up & spent one day touring Stratford--no theatre this time, just shopping and a nice lunch. My friend and I went to Grand Bend for the day and I showed her her first Great Lakes beach. I also spent a night in Brampton (thanks again, Paula!) and then went into Toronto for a day with some new knitting buddies. Which means I have to confess my first day off from my stashalong. I had declared in advance that this would be a day off, and that I would only buy things I couldn't get easily around here, and I held to that resolution. The problem was that the 2 stores we went to-- Romni Wools ...

Well, it's been a while so there are lots of things to update you on. But why bury the lead? The big news arrived last week: Yup, that's a Kromski Symphony in Walnut. So I really don't even want to sit here and type much right now, because spinning has already become completely addictive. I have actually been carving out an extra 5-10 minutes in my morning (before 7 am!) so I can sit and spin before I go to work. I think it may calm me down before me commute--can't hurt, anyway. So what have I done so far? Well, I decided to start with some of the BFL I had dyed a while back. My consistency wasn't great, but I have produced something in the range of a worsted-weight single, I think. It's the one on the bottom, below. I think I will knit it as a single, maybe mitts or a hat? The one on top is merino, and is destined to become a 2-ply in something resembling a sock weight. This one was MUCH more consistent, and I felt like I just flew through it. Yay! Now the prob...

Being wined and dined...and an FO

So we had another physician recruitment weekend to attend this weekend, in Kitchener-Waterloo. They planned a pretty good weekend, with lots of food (including pigtails, which aren't as bad as you would expect!) and drink (our room was stocked with wine from a local brewery, Brick Brewing). The significant others were taken to St. Jacobs market, where I found a tiny but well-stocked yarn booth. 25% off almost everything, too, so I splurged a bit: Noro Iro in colour 61. I love these colours, and it's so nice and soft. It was a bit more of a splurge than I realized--I had seen the price on the Silk Garden and somehow had it in my head that this was the same price, which would have made it a real bargain. But it was still a reasonable deal, and I haven't seen it at the stores I frequent, so I can't complain! Colinette Parisienne, colour tapis (I think?). Again, this isn't a yarn I've ever seen in person, so I snapped it up while I was there! And I did have a bit of...
