No more Ruffles....

So after getting halfway through with the Ruffles scarf, I decided that this pattern didn't show off the colours in the yarn very well. I like the ruffled pattern, but it might be better sutied to a solid colour yarn--where the ruffles themselves can be the star, not the colours of yarn. So I think my Freedom Spirit is instead destined to be my own variation of a multi-directional scarf, where it will be all about the colours. As a result, I frogged the whole thing last night and ended up with this:

Sigh. It did wind up into a nice neat ball this morning, though, so it's ready for me to try again sometime soon.

On the happy side, I realized that those Kool-Aid colours actually match almost perfectly a dress I own, so the Forest Canopy shawl is now a definite. I have a sweater I wear with the dress now, but it makes it very casual....a shawl will be quite nice!

Stephen is on call this weekend (he just started his cardiology rotation), so that's lots of knitting time for me today. Plus there's lots of basketball on now--although that means I should be focusing on easier knits I could do in front of an exciting game. And one more week until March Break! Stephen will be taking a vacation the 2nd week of my break, so we're planning to visit some of the small towns north of Toronto that are recruiting family doctors. All in all, I'm in a good mood today and thinking it will last. March is one of my favourite months (2 weeks off of school, nonstop basketball action, the possibility of spring in the air, no more February--worst month ever!, and my birthday--does it get much better than that?).

Hi Lindsey, glad to have found your blog. Your Ivy looks very nice, and it is a very pretty colour, look forward to seeing more in due course. I do love your kool aid yarn, great colours, and it will go so well with that very pretty frock.
Which Freedom Spirit colour is that by teh way? It looks lovely, all pinks and purples - but I'm sorry you had to frog!

The FS colour is Sunset. It was from my AY SecretSanta, Alison, and I'm trying to put it to its best possible use. :-)
